Multiple timers
Multiple Timers Online
Multiple Timers Online is a free ClassroomTimers tool for running independent countdowns and stopwatches in one browser tab. Use this multi timer to run multiple timers simultaneously for lessons, cooking, study, or experiments, with no account or download. Name each activity, choose its color, and control it individually or start the whole group together.

How do I set up multiple timers online?
For your first timer, fill in the form in the center of the workspace and select Add. To create another, choose Add timer in the bottom control row. Enter a short, recognizable name such as Reading group, Pasta, or First speaker, then select Countdown or Stopwatch. For multiple countdown timers, set hours, minutes, and seconds to give each activity its own duration. Alternatively, choose Until date and enter a future deadline using your device’s local date and time. Pick an alarm, preview it if needed, and select a color before adding the card. Nothing starts automatically when you add it, so you can prepare the whole session before participants begin.
- Start, pause, resume, reset, or delete any card independently. Pause preserves its exact remaining or elapsed time. Reset restores the configured countdown or clears a stopwatch to zero. Delete stops that measurement and removes the card.
- Use Start all for a shared beginning, Pause all for an interruption, and Reset all to prepare another session. Batch controls include every page. Starting the group leaves active measurements unchanged and resumes those that were paused.
- Enable Repeat when adding a duration countdown to begin another cycle automatically at zero. The cycle number shows which repetition is underway. Pause or reset to stop the loop; a deadline-based countdown ends once.
Can I keep multiple timers on one screen?
The multiple timers online workspace has a fixed three-column, two-row layout on desktop, showing up to six cards per page. A single card occupies the same space as one in a full group, so adding or deleting an activity does not enlarge the others. If your list grows beyond six, use the arrows to view the next group; measurements continue while their cards are out of view. Narrow screens use fewer columns and allow scrolling inside the workspace. Each chosen color appears beside its label and along its countdown progress bar. Fullscreen removes the surrounding site content for projection, and the screen-awake control is available when supported by the browser.
- 2 timer types: countdown and stopwatch, with independent start, pause, reset, and delete controls.
- 6 cards per page in a fixed 3 × 2 desktop grid. More cards use pagination; Start all, Pause all, and Reset all apply across every page.
- 6 colors and 3 alarm sounds, plus Silent. Duration countdowns accept up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds; only duration countdowns support Repeat.
When should I use multiple timers online?
Use multiple timers online when activities need independent deadlines or a mix of elapsed and remaining time.
During station work, assign a named countdown to each group instead of asking everyone to follow one deadline. A 5-minute reading task and a 10-minute writing task can begin together, while a stopwatch records a student presentation. For cooking, keep preparation, oven, and resting times separate so that pausing one step does not interrupt the others. Study partners can track independent exercises with parallel timers, and practice stations can repeat short rounds at their own pace. Labels and written status messages distinguish ready, running, paused, and finished activities, so color is never the only cue.
Does multiple timers online save my setup?
Yes. Your multiple timers online configuration is saved in this browser when local storage is available; running sessions are not restored. Names, durations, colors, sounds, and the mute preference remain after a reload, but timers return to ready. MDN explains that localStorage persists across browser sessions, can be blocked by browser settings, and is cleared when the last private-browsing tab closes [1]. Clearing site data also removes your saved setup. There is no account sync between devices.
A date-based countdown uses the device’s clock: pausing and resuming shifts its running finish time, while resetting returns to the original selected deadline. If that date has already passed, it stays at zero.
Will multiple timers work in a background tab?
Yes, while the page remains open, but alarms can be delayed in the background or during device sleep. MDN documents that browsers throttle background timers and commonly stop animation updates in hidden tabs [2]. This tool uses timestamps to recalculate the display when updates resume; it cannot guarantee an alarm while the browser has suspended the page. Keep the tab open and the device awake for time-sensitive activities.
Choose Silent for one countdown or mute all alarms in Settings. Completed cards still display Time’s up. Preview the sound before starting; changing pages inside this workspace does not pause any measurement.

Multiple timers online: common questions
- Can I start multiple timers at once?
- Yes. Prepare your countdowns and stopwatches, then select Start all. Ready cards begin together, paused measurements resume, and those already running keep their progress. You can still pause or reset an individual activity afterward.
- Can multiple timers online combine countdowns and stopwatches?
- Yes. Choose the type when adding each card. A stopwatch measures elapsed time while the countdowns show time remaining. Both types share the same workspace and have independent controls.
- How do repeating countdowns work?
- Enable Repeat when adding a duration countdown. At zero it plays the selected sound, starts the next cycle, and updates the cycle number. Pause or reset it to stop the repetition. Until-date countdowns do not repeat.
- Do multiple timers continue on another page?
- Yes. Each page displays up to six cards, and the rest continue in the background of this workspace. Start all, Pause all, and Reset all control the entire list, including cards you cannot currently see.
- Can I use multiple timers online after closing the page?
- No. Only your setup is stored locally. Closing the page prevents its alarms from playing, and reloading resets the active session. Keep the tab open and the device awake while you need it to measure time.
